FBI admits they dropped ball on tip in Parkland, Florida

Elysabeth Britt, Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives (OK-5)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 16, 2018 Oklahoma City, OK -- We learned today the FBI admittedly dropped the ball on a detailed tip, last month, from a person close to the Florida school shooter.

We don’t yet know all the details of how this drastic dereliction of duty occurred. I believe in accountability for mistakes, but I also still believe in the FBI’s ability to protect Americans.

Before deciding where we go from here, we must let the investigation into this incident play out, and identify where the weak links are in the reporting and notification processes. If it’s a matter of FBI resources, let’s fix it. If it’s better investigative technology, let’s invest in it. We must focus energy on learning from our mistakes, rather than placing blame, but rest assured when we do know who is responsible, we will demand steps be taken to ensure this doesn't happen again.
